Dofware skills in T&M world

DOFWARE is the reference point for leading companies in the mobility domain thanks to the wide tool offer in terms of product design and development.

Development and Testing of Embedded-type Controls

Controls virtual development is requiring accurate physical models, automated tools for development and testing, and an accurate tracking of documents so that each process stages is strictly related to the others. Mainly concerning the so-called “safety-critical” controls, which involves regulations such as ISO 26262, the development practice has to be traceable, verifiable and well-documented.

DOFWARE supports the Customer in the usage of tools and methodologies useful in the following activities:

  • Modelica / Dymola: accurate models creation for the physical simulation;
  • FMI tools: process automation;
  • Reqtify: requirements traceability;
  • CTC++: code static analysis; TestWeaver: test automation.

Multi-domain Simulation of Vehicle Dynamics

Hybrid and electric operations are becoming an important feature for the next years cars. Sub-systems, such as steering wheel and breaking, will be feeded electrically, offering new challenges in the vehicle dynamics. On the other side the electronic equipment is always more influencing the vehicle performance, even in the motorsport.

DOFWARE provides tools and services to car-makers and motorsport teams which allow to merge vehicle dynamics multi-body models to sub-system and sub-component models such as the thermal, hydraulic, electrical and control ones. By means of Dymola-based models written in Modelica language, DOFWARE is able to give the Customer assistance concerning even “Active Safety” and “Limit Handling” domains.

Thermal and Consumptions Handling

Designers have typically to take into account complex multi-domain interactions between physical and control systems, which arise mainly when dealing with thermal aspects.

Dymola/Modelica framework and Reqtify are useful tools for implementing the MBSE approach, which enables to treat any kind of simulation in a relativly easy way, no matter neither if the cockpit / engine thermal analysis has to be performed or if the fuel consumption has to be investigated.

Hybrid, Electric and Innovative Vehicles

Hybrid technology is offering a wide range of challenges and opportunities. In this new and confused environment designers have to focus on the correct targets.

DOFWARE with its deep expertise and Dymola/Modelica multi-engineering platform are valid partners for studying hybrid and electric vehicles, concerning domains which ranges from the electric/thermal behavior of a batteries (degrading included) to Range-Extended cars control strategies and fuel consumptions/emissions minimization.

Automotive Regulations

DOFWARE provides expertise services about the following fields:

• Application of AIDA (Assistant for an Integrated Development Assessment) Model to system, software and hardware design process, integrating ISO 26262 quality standard to the Automotive SPICE, CMMI e SCRUM models;

• Functional Safety Assessment and Functional Safety Audit implementation on Customer and third-parties projects;

• Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment on Customer electronic products.

A brief description of AIDA ( www.aidamodel.org) model:

• it is born from a collaboration among Fiat Group Automobiles, the “Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazione” of CNR (Pisa) and the “Università di Rio Grande do Norte” (Brasil);

• it drives to the adaptation to ISO 26262 regulations the automotive companies (OEM, Tier1 and Tier2) having system, hardware and software design practices compliant with Automotive SPICE, CMMI o SCRUM models;

• it is one of the models applied by the international automotive community to perform ISO 26262 assessments;

• in a short time AIDA checklists and templates will be ported from Excel in collaborative framework such as ALM and PLM.

Railway Regulations

DOFWARE provides expertise services about the following fields:

• RAMS (Reliability, Availability , Maintainability and Safety) analysis of systems, sub-systems and components;

• Assessment and adaptation of software design processes according to CENELEC EN 50128:2011;

• Lectures and on-the-job training about application of CENELEC EN50126, EN50129 ed EN50128:2011 regulations;

• Software modules Functional Safety Analysis;

• Preparation and support to Functional Safety Audit and Functional Safety Assessment performed by National Authorities (e.g. SNCF, EBA) and Notified Bodies (e.g. TUV, RINA);

V&V activities over FPGAs used in the railway systems (signaling and on-board systems) concerning safety relevant applications. (Programmable devices and V&V of VHDL code usages are always more frequent in safety relevant product design in a general way).

Furthermore DOFWARE supports the Customer everywhere specific regulations are not present: ad hoc methodologies and tools are applied in V&V activities for guaranteeing as much quality and robustness as possible to the Customer final products.
