DOFWARE Skills in T&M World

DOFWARE is the reference point for leading companies in the mobility domain, thanks to the wide expertise and the tool offer focused on product design and development.

Development and Testing of Embedded Controls

Controls virtual development requires accurate physical models, automated tools for development and testing, and an accurate tracking of documents so that each process stage is strictly related to the others. Mainly concerning the so-called “safety-critical” controls, which involves regulations such as ISO 26262, the development practice has to be traceable, verifiable and well-documented.

DOFWARE supports the Customer in the usage of tools and methodologies such as the followings:

Multi-Domain Simulation of Vehicle Dynamics

Hybrid and electric drives are becoming an important feature for the next-years cars. Sub-systems, such as steering wheel and breaking, will be feeded electrically, offering new challenges in the vehicle dynamics. On the other side, the electronic equipment is increasingly influencing the vehicle performance, even in the motorsport.

DOFWARE supports car-makers and motorsport teams with tools and services which allow to couple multi-body vehicle dynamic models and sub-system models, such as the thermal, the hydraulic, the electrical and the control ones. By means of Modelica models developed in Dymola, DOFWARE helps the Customer even about “Active Safety” and “Limit Handling” domains.

Thermal Comfort Handling

Designers have typically to manage complex multi-domain interactions between physical phenomena and control systems: the thermal domain is full of such.

Dymola/Modelica framework and Reqtify are useful tools for implementing the MBSE approach, which enables to treat any kind of component/phenomena simulations quickly and easily. They can be adopted into a wide range of applications, such as the thermal comfort within the cockpit and the engine thermal handling.

Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Hybrid technology is offering a wide range of challenges and opportunities. In this new and yet unclear environment, designers must identify the right targets.

DOFWARE, thanks to its deep expertise and to the Dymola/Modelica multi-engineering platform, is a valid partner for studying hybrid and electric vehicles, concerning domains which ranges from the battery electrical and thermal behavior (including aging) up to the control strategies and the fuel consumptions/emissions minimization.

Automotive Regulations

DOFWARE provides consultancy services about the following fields:

• Application of AIDA (Assistant for an Integrated Development Assessment) Model to system, software and hardware design process, integrating ISO 26262 quality standard into the Automotive SPICE, CMMI and SCRUM models;

• Functional Safety Assessment and Functional Safety Audit implementation on Customer and third-party projects;

• Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment on electronic products.

A brief description of AIDA model:

• born from a collaboration among Fiat Group Automobiles, the “Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazione” of CNR (Pisa) and the “Università di Rio Grande do Norte” (Brasil);

• it drives to the adaptation to ISO 26262 regulations the automotive companies (OEM, Tier1 and Tier2) having system, hardware and software design practices compliant with Automotive SPICE, CMMI or SCRUM models;

• it is one of the models applied by the international automotive community to perform ISO 26262 assessments;

• in a short time, AIDA checklists and templates will be ported from Excel into collaborative frameworks such as ALM and PLM.

Railway Regulations

DOFWARE provides consultancy services about the following fields:

• RAMS (Reliability, Availability , Maintainability and Safety) analysis of systems, sub-systems and components;

• Assessment and adaptation of software design processes according to CENELEC EN 50128:2011;

• Lectures and on-the-job training about application of CENELEC EN50126, EN50129 and EN50128:2011 regulations;

• Software modules Functional Safety Analysis;

• Preparation and support to Functional Safety Audit and Functional Safety Assessment performed by National Authorities (e.g. SNCF, EBA) and Notified Bodies (e.g. TUV, RINA);

• V&V activities over FPGAs used in the railway systems (signaling and on-board systems) concerning safety relevant applications. (Programmable devices and V&V of VHDL code usages are always more frequent in safety relevant product design in general.)

Furthermore, DOFWARE supports the Customer everywhere specific regulations are not present: ad-hoc methodologies and tools are applied in V&V activities for ensuring as much quality and robustness as possible.
